The challenge

Today Magazine is a quarterly publication focused on promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through articles on nutrition, wellness, exercise, sponsorships and recipes. Each edition required a balance between creativity and clarity, and the layouts needed to feel modern, friendly and easy to follow. The challenge was to design multiple issues over several years that stayed visually fresh while still feeling part of the same publication.

My approach

I explored different visual directions for each edition, always grounded in clarity, structure and readability. My focus was on creating layouts that felt dynamic and inviting without overwhelming the content. I combined clean typography with simple graphic elements, colour accents and editorial pacing that guided readers naturally through long and short articles. This approach allowed each issue to have its own personality while maintaining a cohesive overall identity for the magazine.

The work

Across multiple editions, I designed full spreads and complete issues with:

  • Editorial layouts that balanced readability and visual interest

  • Clean typography and clear hierarchy for long‑form content

  • Illustrative and photographic elements that supported each article

  • Flexible grid structures suited to interviews, recipes, wellness tips and feature stories

  • Seasonal and thematic variations that kept the magazine visually fresh

  • Design direction that unified each edition without repeating styles

The designs encouraged readers to move comfortably through the content while keeping the magazine’s tone warm, practical and inspiring.

The outcome

The redesigned issues helped Today Magazine maintain a clear and approachable identity across several years of publication. Readers responded positively to the clean structure and engaging visuals, and the editorial team gained layouts that were easy to build on for future editions. The variations across issues kept the magazine evolving without losing its purpose or personality.
